SUMMIT – Jacob Buchanan, a freshman left-hander from Livingston, LA, has been named the MACJC Pitcher of the Week for April 6-12. By being so honored, he will automatically be nominated for the NJCAA Pitcher of the Week award.

A graduate of Doyle High School, Buchanan threw 95 pitches in a 2-1 complete-game win over Itawamba on April 11. He gave up one run (unearned) on five hits and only one walk while striking out three. The Bears scored their two runs with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to get the win.

This marks the second Southwest baseball player to be so honored. Freshman catcher Walt Aldridge was named the league’s position Player of the Week last month.
