BOGUE CHITTO – The Wesson Lady Cobras spoiled Bogue Chitto’s Senior Night with a 2-0 shutout victory over the Lady Cats Friday night in softball action.
“This was a good win for us against a good team before starting the playoffs,” said Wesson coach Jackie Johnson. “The girls played really well and made the plays needed to get the win. Abbey Smith pitched a great game.”
BC recognized their softball seniors: Adrienne Wallace, Rheagan Welch and Kerri McGehee, in a pregame ceremony as friends, family and alumni gathered to witness the event.
The Lady Cobras (17-4, 8-0) resume action Friday in the second round of the 2A playoffs. They visit the Union Lady Yellowjackets Friday and host Union Saturday. Game times have not been set.

The Lady Cobras and Lady Cats provided a tough, physical defensive battle as the game went scoreless in three innings of action before Wesson managed to break up the scoreless drought in the fourth.
The Lady Cats made several attempts to answer the Lady Cobras, but Wesson’s defense managed to shut down the opportunities for the win.
Senior Abbey Smith was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cats with five strikeouts and four walks. She pitched a one-hit shutout.

“We did not play well mentally,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “Our approaches to the plate were bad. The girls have to learn to dig down when the going gets tough and battle through it.”
