FOXWORTH — Senior right-hander Alex Smith pitched a 2-hitter in Wesson’s 10-2 Friday night win over the East Marion Eagles in Region 6-2A baseball action. Smith struck out 11 batters, walked 2 and hit 2 .

Shortstop Bailey Warren doubled, singled and drove in 2 runs for Wesson’s Cobras. Leftfielder Brandon Nettles and Smith each had 2 RBI. Koy McFarland Quentin Munn had 2 hits apiece.

“East Marion played pretty well and we left eight runners on base in the first three innings,” said Wesson coach Seth Lofton. “We finally started getting some key hits with runners in scoring position.”

The Cobras improved their record to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the region. They meet Brookhaven Monday night at 7 in the Lawrence County Spring Break Tournament.
