Thursday, May 1, was the 2025 National Day of Prayer. The theme this year is “Pour out to the God of hope and be filled,” from the biblical passage of Romans 15:13 — “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” The Day of Prayer was observed on the steps of the Lincoln County Government Building, with approximately 100 people in attendance. Preschooler J.D. Sala led the Pledge of Allegiance. Mike Smith, husband of Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, led a prayer for the nation and its leadership, praying, “We ask for one simple thing — let everything we do be in the center of Your will.”
