Lincoln County: Adams advances in D.A. race to General Election

Only 4 percent of the vote separated Lincoln County district attorney hopefuls Brendon Adams and Joey Norton in the Republican Primary Tuesday.

In the District 14 race, Adams — Lincoln County’s assistant district attorney — pulled off the win. In total, Adams had 6,619 — 52% of the total 12,785 votes in the three-county district — and Norton had 6,166, or 48% of the total.

In Lincoln County, Adams brought in 3,278 votes (43%) to Norton’s 4,135 (54%) in. District 14 also covers Pike and Walthall counties.

In Pike County, Adams had 64% of the vote (2,734) and Norton had 36% (1,556). In Walthall County, Adams had 56% (607) and Norton had 43.9% (475).

Adams will be up against Democratic candidate Patrick Earl Beasley in November. Beasley ran unopposed in the Primary.
