The 72nd annual Tom Moak Memorial Pancake & Sausage Day is Wednesday, Feb. 22.

The $8 plates are available for drive-thru pickup only at Mitchell’s Catering off Brookway Boulevard. Times are 7-9 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4-7 p.m. All proceeds will be used by the Brookhaven Servitium Club to support local youth services and programs.

Pancake Day began in 1951 in Brookhaven when the Servitium Club was known as the Kiwanis Club. Moak, who joined the Kiwanis Club in 1948, was present at the first Pancake Day and attended every one until his death 62 years later in 2013. After that, the newly created Servitium Club — having broken ties with the national Kiwanis organization the year before in order to keep the money raised in the community — decided to rename Pancake Day in his honor.

While Servitium members are busy selling tickets to the event, the public can show up and purchase a plate without a ticket.

The Servitium Club meets at Mitchell’s each Wednesday at noon for lunch and a program.
