Jeremiah 33: 2-9 and Proverbs 16:22 speak of God’s words about guidance in our lives. This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and established it; the Lord is his name. “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” Understanding is a fountain of life to those who have it.
Eva H. Harris and Lincoln County School Alumni will meet for their regular meeting to prepare for the upcoming reunion in 2017 on April 26 at 6 p.m. at the public library. The president Curtis Tyner along with the vice president Marion B. James are encouraging each of you to join the committee members to prepare for this school reunion.
There are many, many milestones that happen in one’s life, and today they are becoming more prevalent in young people at an early age. Young people are developing meaningful ideals and they are forming these skillful ideals into reality and this causes them to become successful inventors or business people at such an amazingly young age. If you look around, you will see that there have been some young people named as millionaires as young as 16 years old by statistics recently.
Young people you are encouraged to reach for the stars because you have the opportunity to do whatever you would like to do to succeed in this society. Maybe before you are the age of 20 you will own your own company or maybe you will have made an invention. If you have a dream for success that will benefit someone, don’t wait! Get, busy, believe in yourself, trust in God, and you will succeed.
Brookhaven Colored School and Alexander High School will host their bi-annual school reunion July 22, 23 and 24 using the theme “Christmas in July: Black And Gold Stands Forever.” The chairperson Phyllis Sterling Watkins and the alumni committee members are gearing-up to make final arrangements for the success of this reunion. This year’s honorees will be the classes of 1965 and 1966 who will be recognized for their 50th golden year anniversary. The classes who will be celebrating their 40th year anniversary will also be recognized. If you plan to attend and have not sent your fee of $75 in for the reunion please see a committee member or you can mail it to: 1989 Hwy 51 NE Brookhaven, Mississippi 39601 or you can mail it to: 509 Eastgate Drive Brookhaven, Mississippi as soon as possible. The committee is also still accepting donations for ads, still needs pictures for booklet and are still accepting new ideas for this reunion or for future reunions. Don’t forget the reunion king and queen for 2016.
The chairperson, Mrs. Watkins, along with the reunion committee members are asking each class to do something special during the parade for the “Christmas In July: Black And Gold Stands Forever” theme. There will be early registration at Alexander on July 21 at 2 p.m. followed by morning registration on July 22 at 9 a.m.
