Charlie D. Hill

Funeral services for Charlie D. Hill of Summit were 10 a.m. on Monday, April 22, at Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb, with burial with full military honors in Macedonia Methodist Church Cemetery in Houston, Miss.
Mr. Hill, 85, died April 19, 2013 at his home. He was born in Houston, Miss. on July 27, 1927 to Jacob Calvin Hill and Vannie Lee Malone Hill.
He was retired from the U.S. Air Force, after serving 21 years. Mr. Hill served during World War II in the South Pacific. He was a member of West McComb Baptist Church, McComb City Lodge #382 F&AM, Shriners Washabi Temple, Order of the Eastern Star and Yesterday’s Kids. He was also a Boy Scout and later became a Scout Master. Mr. Hill loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James Calvin Hill, Robert D. Hill and Elvin W. Hill; and two sisters, Louise Henley and Pauline Blake.
Survivors include his wife, Libby Hill, of Summit; one son, Charles A. Hill, and wife, Diane, of Summit; brothers, Frank Hill, of West Point, Donald Hill, of Bryan, Texas, and Odie Lee Hill, of West Point; a sister, Dorothy Crane, of Marrero, La.; grandson, Joshua D. Hill, and wife, Amanda, of Prince George, Va.; granddaughter, Elizabeth E. Adams, of Summit; three great-grandchildren, Michael Lee Haygood, Adam T. Haygood and Jacob A. Hill; two great-grandchildren, Jessica E. Hill and Samantha Martin; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
