Panthers rip McComb, fall to Terry Bulldogs

The Brookhaven Panthers roared to a 15-0 Friday night win over the host McComb Tigers on Rotary Field but they ran into a brick wall Saturday, losing 7-0 to the host Terry Bulldogs.

Coach Randy Spring’s Panthers (4-5, 2-0) play Monday in the Lawrence County Tournament, meeting South Pike at 2:30 p.m. and Wesson at 7 p.m.

Senior Seth Porter pitched the win over McComb. He struck out 4 batters and walked 2 in 4 innings of action.

Houston Case hurled 1 inning of relief. He fanned 2 and walked 1.

At the plate, Landon McCullough collected a pair of doubles for Brookhaven. Zach Smith doubled and singled. Reed Jones had 2 hits.

McComb is under the direction of former Ole Brook basketball coach Ronald Hines.

Terry 7, Brook 0

“We didn’t play very well against Terry,” said Spring. “They had a very good pitcher.”

Losing hurler Andrew Culver gave up 9 hits as his record dipped to 2-2 on the season.

McCullough had the only Brookhaven hit.
