FRANKLINTON, La. – Bowling Green defeated Brookhaven Academy’s Cougars 52-46 Saturday night, avenging an earlier loss. They were led by Mac McElven’s 20 points.

Brookhaven Academy also lost the girls game, 54-30 to the Lady Bucs, who were powered by Makayla Dykes with 21 points.

The Cougars and Lady Cougars host Columbia Academy Friday for District 5-AA action.

“We started off real well and then we let them some big shots,” said BA boss Dale Watts. “Our guys did a great job coming back. We got (lead) to two (points) at 48-46 with under a minute to go.”

 The BA Cougars (16-9) got 17 points from Gage Posey and 13 from Matthew Evans. On the backboards, they got 7 rebounds from guard Zac Smith and 5 from Peyton Hood. BA had 11 turnovers and trailed the Bucs 42-28 entering the fourth quarter.
