June Nalty Briant went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2012, after a long battle with cancer. She was born on Dec. 2, 1932 in Brookhaven to Eugene Nalty and Lula Mae Campbell.
She is survived by her husband, John Briant, of Mandeville, La., where she lived for 34 years after moving from New Orleans. She was a devoted mother to her daughter and son, Diane Deane Smith and husband, Douglas, of Longview, Texas, and Robert Bryan Deane Jr. and wife, Megan, of Destin, Fla. June loved her five grandchildren, Deane Cran Fraser, of Houston, Madelyn and Spencer Smith, of Longview, Texas, and Kinsey and Lillian Deane, of Destin, Fla. She is also survived by two sisters, Jean Gulledge, of Covington, La., and Jerry Wilson, of Jackson, as well as nieces and nephews.
June brought a smile to all she met. She gave generously her time in the past volunteering as a “Pink Lady” at Ochsner in New Orleans, and was an active member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. She loved playing bridge and all of her friends. June’s smile and love for others will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service from E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, Inc., 2260 W 21st Ave., Covington, La. 70433, on Friday, March 9, at 10 a.m. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time. Internment is in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 4499 Sharp Road, Mandeville, La. 70471.
June’s family would like to thank all the dear friends for their overwhelming support and love during her time of illness.
