Funeral services for Ralph A. Page of Hazlehurst are 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, at Decell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wesson, with burial in Lowe Cemetery in the Pearl Valley community of Hazlehurst. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Tuesday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Page, 89, died March 16, 2013, at Magee General Hospital in Magee. He was born Jan. 25, 1924 in Oma, to Embra Polk Page and Annie Blackmon Page.
After graduating from Georgetown High School, he entered the United States Navy, serving 22 years and retiring as chief in 1964. He was employed with Lockheed Corporation in Atlanta until the family’s return to Mississippi in 1969. In Hazlehurst, he worked for the Soil and Water Conservation District and the U.S. Postal Service until retirement in 1989.
Mr. Page was a member of Decell Memorial United Methodist Church for 44 years, where he was in the choir and served on the finance committee. He was a member of American Legion and the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association, and enjoyed traveling with his wife to his Navy ship reunions during the past 24 years.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and his brothers, Embra B. Page and Phinus Page.
Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Helen Frances Lee Page; son, Wayne Page and wife, Sheryl, of Hazlehurst; daughter, Patti Page Wade, and her husband, Frank, of Flowood; sisters, Adilaid Maddox of Avon, Beatrice Woodard of Terry and Virginia Boardman of Meridian; grandchildren, Rachel Wade and Sarah Wade, of Flowood; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
