Funeral services for Jerry “Rabbit” Jenkins Sr. of Brookhaven are 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 23 at Alexander Junior High Auditorium, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Friday from 1 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with family hour from 6 until 7.
Mr. Jenkins, 79, died March 14, 2013 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was born in Bassfield on March 19, 1933, to Johnny Jenkins Sr. and Annie Bee Brooks.
He was a retired logger who loved to fish, cook and eat raccoon and sweet potatoes.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Roosevelt “Pig” Price Sr. and Jimmy Jenkins; sister, Bernice Short; and four grandchildren, James Jenkins, Stacy Jenkins, Latoya Jenkins and Bryant Jenkins.
Survivors are his wife, Josie Mae Byrd Jenkins; sons, Percy Jenkins and wife, Katrina, of Springfield, Mass., Jerry Jenkins Jr. and wife, Tonya, of Springfield, Mass., and Stanley Jenkins and wife, Gayla, of Milwaukee, Wis.; daughters, Marilyn Dixon, Helen Jenkins, Joan Humphrey and husband, Paul, Wanda Nelson and husband, Carl, Patricia Jenkins and husband, Greg, all of Brookhaven, Patina Andress of Milwaukee Wis., and Tangela McCoy of Raleigh, N.C.; godchildren, Sue Bryant and Janice Hartwell, both of Brookhaven; 30 grandchildren; 94 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Louis Hall and wife, Kat, of Natchez, Clarence Harris of Bude, Johnny Jenkins Jr. of Brookhaven, and Lee Price and Michael Price, both of Wisner, La.; sisters, Ida Mae Hooker and husband, Eddie, of Natchez, Pamela Jenkins and Gwen Jenkins, both of Brookhaven, Steve Price and husband, John, Deloise Price and husband, Emmitt, and Ianna Price and husband, Albert, all of Wisner, La.; sister-in-law, Mary Robinson of Brookhaven; a special niece, like a daughter, Audrey Fay Jenkins and husband, Johnnie, of Bude; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
