The South men and North women came away with victories in the annual MACJC All-Star Basketball Games held Thursday night in the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building on the East Central Community College campus in Decatur.

Detric Davis of Jones County Junior College poured in 16 points in leading the South men to a 106-101 victory.

JaMicheal Hawkins of Mississippi Gulf Coast contributed 13 points, followed by Joe Cunningham of Copiah-Lincoln, Aquill Baynard of East Central and Devin Flowers of Southwest with 11 points each. Cunningham was also named most valuable player.

Other scorers were Marcus Hurn of Hinds, 10; Xavier Rimmer of Pearl River and Jay Case of Copiah-Lincoln, seven each; Darius Forest of MS Gulf Coast, six; and Dominique Brown of Hinds, J.J. Bolton of Jones County and Frank Snow of Pearl River, four each.

Anthony McDonald of MS Delta led the North men with 18 points, and Micah Walker of East MS contributed 16 points.

Other point makers were Patrick Brown of Coahoma and Acie Vance of Northeast, 13 each; Alex Thompson of Coahoma and DeAndre Scott of Holmes, seven each; Tre Wells of Itawamba, KeDorian Sullivan of Northeast and DeMarcus McVay of Northwest, six each; Karahzion Crawford of MS Delta, four; and Quintin Lee of Itawamba and Charles Eaton of Northwest, two each.

The South held a 44-41 advantage at halftime.

In the women’s contest, the North rallied for a 60-47 victory behind Itawamba standout Ty-Nita Baker’s 18 points. Baker received most valuable player honors in recognition of her performance.

Other scorers were Jasmine Hampton of Itawamba, eight; Bridgett Griffin of Coahoma and Monique Biggins of Northwest, six each; Myiesha Stewart of MS Delta and Ayanna Lynn of Itawamba, five each; and Jessica Miles of Holmes, Shanarika McCullum of MS Delta and Talisa Boyd of Northeast, four each.

South point makers were LaVasha Allen of Copiah-Lincoln, eight; Xzandra Dowd of East Central, seven; Vintrice Briggs of Copiah-Lincoln and Jaianah Matthew of East Central, five each; Cassie Berry of Southwest and Jakela Johnson of East Central, four each; Markia Nix of MS Gulf Coast, Chanta Poole of Copiah-Lincoln and Daiquiri Raine of Pearl River, three each; and Shameika Hart, two, and Presley Owens, one, both of MS Gulf Coast.

The South led 26-25 at the break.
