FOXWORTH – East Marion capitalized on a missed popup and a throwing error to push home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning and edge Loyd Star 4-3 Tuesday night in a Region 6-2A baseball game. The Eagles capitalized on 8 Loyd Star errors to force extra innings.

“We have to start playing better defense behind our pitchers who are pitching well,” said Loyd Star coach Jared Britt. “We need some of our hitters to step up and help produce runs. We are leaving far too many runners on base.”

Malik Belton (8K 1BB) pitched East Marion’s win.

Loyd Star starter Cori Crowe struck out 15 batters and walked 1 in a losing cause. Caleb Yarborough relieved Crowe in the ninth and was charged with the loss.

At the plate, Brendyn Brister and Yarborough each had 2 singles. Braden Smith had an RBI double. Dorian Beard and Logan Smith singled.

East Marion got an RBI triple from Jaylin Akins. Jonathan Abram, Racheam McMorris and Rickey Johnson singled.
