Bears win Lincoln County Crown; Lady Jackets surpass W. Lincoln

The West Lincoln Bears continue their reign as the Lincoln County boys champs after whipping the Enterprise Jackets 78-52 Saturday night in Enterprise’s new gym.
In girls’ action, the Lady Jackets knocked off the Lady Bears 45-40.
Enterprise 45, W. Lincoln 40
In a back-and-forth contest, the Lady Jackets and Lady Bears battled closely as West Lincoln secured a slim 26-25 lead after three quarters of action.
In the fourth quarter, Enterprise outscored West Lincoln 20-14 to secure the victory and finish 2-1 in tournament action.
Alissa Barlow, Megan Rippy and Markie Case were the offensive leaders for the Lady Jackets (5-7) with 10 points apiece.
“I am very proud of my girls,” said Enterprise coach Jill Nations. “We are steadily improving defensively as a team.”
Layton Sills was the top scorer for the Lady Bears (1-9) with seven points. Karley Smith, Hanna Moak, Bentley Sills and Heather Moak contributed six points each.
West Lincoln 78, Enterprise 52
West Lincoln took control of the contest in the opening quarter and ran wild to claim a 28-8 advantage and cruise to the win
The Bears (9-1) had five players to score in double figures. Junior guard Duane Marshall led West Lincoln’s high-octane offense with 17 points. Jason Watts chipped in with 13 points. Sam Bivens and Keshaun London netted 12 points apiece. Ronnie Edwards had 10 points.
Forrest Scott powered the Jackets (7-5) with 12 points. Dewayne Pendleton and Tyler Gill provided eight points each.
“I was pleased with my guys’ effort,” said Enterprise coach John Knight. “We had several young players step up by playing a key role and earned some valuable minutes.”
