Jordyn Kees, Loyd Star
Sophomore, Running Back
After running for over 2,000 yards last season as a freshman, Loyd Star sophomore running back Jordyn Kees isn’t going to sneak up on anyone the Hornets have scheduled in the future. What great players do is see those raised expectations, and meet them.
The 2024 season started slowly for Kees and the Hornets. He was sick for a minute and injured at the same time as LS began the season with a 0-2 record. Things are looking up in Hornetville though, as the team has now won three games in a row and a return to full strength for Kees is a big part of that success.
On Friday in a 33-24 win over Stringer, Kees averaged over 12 yards per carry. For his efforts in helping the Hornets to the win, Kees has been named The Daily Leader Offensive Player of the Week. Kees finished with 19 carries for 233 yards and one score. In four games this season, Kees has rushed for a combined 684 yards and six touchdowns. The Hornets are back in action on Friday in their Region 7-2A opener at Wilkinson County.
