Chance Stewart, West Lincoln
Senior, Running Back
When West Lincoln first year head football coach Johnny Ball took over in Flea Hop, he let it be known that his plan was to run the football in part because the Bears already had some physical ball-carriers on the roster.
One of those guys is senior Chance Stewart. On Friday at Salem, Stewart and his teammates helped spoil homecoming for the Wildcats with a 41-8 win for West Lincoln. Stewart led the way with 156 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries as the team gifted Ball with his first victory as head coach.
For his help in leading the Bears to the victory, Stewart has been named The Daily Leader Offensive Player of the Week. The 5-foot-6, 140-pound Stewart makes up the WL senior class along with Caden Seay, Tyler Hall, Joseph Martin, Hayz Boyte, and Rhett Hedgpeth. Ball has praised the toughness and leadership of this senior class, which helped snap a seven-game losing streak with the win.
West Lincoln will be back on Perry Miller Field Friday, hosting their county rivals from Enterprise for a non-region matchup.
