The MAIS soccer season continues to roll on for the Brookhaven Academy girls’ team as the Cougars had a pair of matches on the road this week.
Brookhaven officially moves its record to 2-0-1 with those results as the loss to the Hattiesburg Homeschool Forerunners counted as a scrimmage.
The first road match of the season was a 4-1 win at Manchester Academy on July 26. Coach Alex Brown’s squad got one goal from Kyndra Quinn and a hat-trick from Camille Calcote in that victory. Olivia Case, Presley Day, Natalie Freeny, and Mary Anson Tate all had one assist in the win.
On Monday the team went to Raymond, where they faced the Central Hinds Cougars. Central Hinds is the defending MAIS 4A state champs, but they were bested 6-1 by BA.
Calcote scored two goals, Karen Hernandez had two goals and two assists, and Quinn scored one goal. Case scored one goal and Day was in on one assist.
BA faced the Hattiesburg Forerunners again on Thursday, this time playing in Hattiesburg. The match ended in a 3-3 tie.
Calcote again scored two goals while Quinn had one goal and one assist. Tate also notched an assist.
The team will make its regular season debut on Aug. 6 by hosting Presbyterian Christian for two matches, with junior varsity beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity tilt to follow at 6:30 p.m.
