Copiah-Lincoln CC men’s basketball coach David Sanders has picked Desoto County native Aa-ron McIntyre as his new assistant coach for the 2024-2025 season.
McIntyre replaces Cortez Mitchell, who worked at the college for one season. Mitchell, who played for Sanders at Callaway High, was recently hired as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Charleston Southern, his alma mater. In his first two seasons at CLCC, Sanders was assisted by Reggie Chambers, who was hired recently as the head boys’ basketball coach at South Pike High School.
McIntyre played high school basketball at DeSoto Central, graduating in 2015. He then began coaching in the AAU world, working with the program at Jones Elite AAU.
He also has experience on the professional level, working as film coordinator for the Memphis Hustle, the NBA G-League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, earlier in his career. On the second-ary level, McIntyre worked on the staff at Desoto Christian Academy previously in his career.
McIntyre is a 2021 graduate of the University of Memphis with a degree in sports management.
“I am excited about the hire of a young, enthusiastic coach that brings energy to the team every day,” said Sanders in a release from the school. “His expertise will be instrumental in helping the team’s performance and developing our player’s skills.”
