Sophomore pitcher Dreamus Harron Jr. has long been touted as one of the next big arms to come up through the Brookhaven High School baseball program.

Playing in a MHSAA 5A Region loaded with talent, Harron showed this season that he’ll be a guy that stays on the radar of collegiate coaches in his final two seasons pitching on Moyer Field.

For his outstanding work in limiting opposing offenses, Harron has been named The Daily Leader All-Area Most Valuable Defensive Player.

In 56.1 innings of action for the Panthers (15-11-1), Harron struck out a team-best 98 batters. He finished with a 1.97 ERA.

His best performances on the hill were a 15-strikeout game against Wesson over six innings and a no-hitter thrown versus the Natchez Bulldogs.

Wearing No. 10 for coach Matt White and his staff, the right-handed Harron has a fastball that sits in the upper 80s to low 90s.

Like many other members of the All-Area team, Harron recently suited up for District 7 at the annual State Games of Mississippi in Meridian. There he helped a team led by COY Austin Hood finish 2-1 in the tournament that pits underclassmen from all over the state against each other.

The 6-foot-1 Harron has also played football, specifically quarterback, for Brookhaven High in his career.

An All-Region selection for the Panthers, Harron was also named Pitcher of the Year for the second-straight season at the annual baseball awards banquet for BHS.

With just three seniors on the roster lost to graduation, there are big expectations for the Panthers to continue to build on the momentum of 2024 and Harron will be a huge part of that increased belief in BHS baseball in 2025.

The Panthers have not won a 5A playoff series since the 2018 squad defeated North Pike in a three-game series in the opening round.

With Harron and a roster that will include starting returnees Mason White, Drew Nelson, Trent Owens, Brayden Wilson, Luke Simmons, EJ Ratliff and DJ Washington, the hope is that 2025 will be a season to remember for Brookhaven High baseball.

And if that happens, expect Harron to have another monster season on the hill for the Panthers.
