Alexander hosts middle school track invitational at King Field

The Alexander Junior High track program hosted a six-team middle school meet Thursday at King Field on the campus of Brookhaven High School.
Teams from AJH, Amite County Middle School, Denman Junior High of McComb, Rod Paige Middle School of Monticello, St. Andrew’s Middle School and Jefferson Middle School of Columbia had athletes competing.
The Alexander boys’ took first place and the girls’ team finished in second place behind Jefferson. It was the second meet of the week for Panthers as both teams took home first place on Monday in an invitational meet hosted by McComb High at Southwest Mississippi Community College.
First place finishers for AJH on Thursday in girls’ events were Kelise Watson (100-meter hurdles), Isabella Iles (800-meter run, 1600-meter run), Jay’Sha Johnson (200-meter dash) and Renyhia Epps (discus throw).
First place finishers for AJH on Thursday in boys’ events were A’Semiyon Smith (100-meter hurdles), Jaden Allen (100-meter dash, high jump), Cooper Wallace (800-meter run, 1,600-meter run), Kartayvious Cameron (400-meter dash), Philip Tobias Jr. (shot put throw) and Codero McDaniel (discus throw).
The Panthers also won the boy’s 4×200-meter relay and the boys’ 4×100 meter relay on Thursday.
Second place finishers on Thursday for AJH were Coelman Knott (800-meter run, 1,600-meter run), Matthew Bonson (400-meter dash), Cortavian Dixon (200-meter dash), Christopher Sanders (long jump), Sh’Nya Hill (high jump), Triston Thomas (high jump), Aubrianna Diggs (shot put throw) and Markiell Robinson (discus throw).
The AJH track team is coached by Kwinsi Bridges and Markeyta Wilson. The Panthers are scheduled to run again on March 24 at Columbia High.
