The Brookhaven Academy Cougars (6-4, 3-1) finished up their regular season Friday with a 10-3 win against River Oaks School (2-8, 0-4) in Monroe, Louisiana.
Senior running back Nick Ogden ran 24 times for 123 yards to lead the Cougar offense. Quarterback Tyler Fortenberry ran seven times for 27 yards and one score. John Rivers Brown ran for 55 yards on 15 carries.
The Cougars also got a field goal from sophomore Corey Case in the win.
The game was a quick one as the Cougars rarely passed the ball. Fortenberry went 2-of-2 three yards. Both passes went to Ogden.
Junior defensive end Gage Brown had a monster game for the Cougar defense as he made 13 tackles (two for a loss), a sack and a fumble recovery.
The Cougars and coach Ron Rushing await their seeding in the MAIS 4A playoffs next week. The win virtually assures BA of hosting a playoff game next Friday.
