Slay Acy, Wesson — Sr., OF
A senior leader on a deep Cobra team. .310 average with 26 RBIs for coach Seth Lofton. Hit 10 doubles, two triples, and one home run. Stole 14 bases and scored 26 runs for a Wesson team that reached the third round of the MHSAA 3A state playoffs.
Owen Anderson, Bogue Chitto — So., OF
A team high .311 average with 20 runs scored and seven runs driven in for coach Gareth Sartin. Hit four doubles and used his speed to steal a team high 19 bases. Did not commit an error in the outfield. Also, a standout skill player in football who was an All-Area selection.
Colby Beard, Enterprise — Jr. P/INF
.277 average with 12 runs score and 15 RBIs. Hit two doubles and is a solid presence at first base where he had an .862 fielding percentage. Made nine pitching appearances and struck out 12 in 25.1 innings of work for coach Cass Brister and the Yellow Jackets.
Kenner Bizot, Wesson — Jr., P/INF
The big junior had a .347 average at the plate while putting up a team high .510 slugging percentage. Scored 25 runs and drove in 24 RBIs. Hit 10 doubles and two homeruns. A 2.36 ERA on the mound in 13 appearances. 5-5 record with 56 strikeouts in 53.1 innings of work. MAC 3A All-State selection.
Cade Brown, Brookhaven Academy — Sr., INF
Turned into a formidable leadoff batter after playing baseball for the first time since junior high. Batted .311with 26 runs scored and stole 15 bases. Hit five doubles, one home run, and 16 RBIs. Settled in at second base and had a .884 fielding percentage for the state champion Cougars. All-Area MVP in football and also All-Area in basketball.
John Burns, Enterprise — Jr., P/INF
One of the emotional leaders on a talented Yellow Jacket team. Hit .333 and tied for second highest RBIs on the team with 17. Hit six doubles and scored ten runs. Had a 4.94 ERA in eight pitching appearances including one complete game shutout. Struck out 16 in 17 innings pitched.
Gavin Burris, West Lincoln — Sr., P
The ace of the Bear pitching staff. Struck out 51 in 35 innings for coach David Gilbert. Threw two complete games in eight starts. Also batted .262 with 10 RBIs, two doubles, and one homerun. Stole 12 bases. Struck out 13 in a complete game 5-0 loss to Bogue Chitto.
Dylan Case, Loyd Star — Sr., P/INF
A gritty senior who did it all for his team in his final season. 6-3 record on the mound and 2.47 ERA in 45.1 innings of work. Struck out 52 for the region champion Hornets. Tossed three no-hitters and five complete games. Second on the team with a .422 batting average. Drove in 23 runs and scored 24 runs. Hit seven doubles and stole seven bases.
Hunter Daley, Lawrence County — So. P
A promising young arm for the Cougars. 2-2 with a 2.12 ERA in a team high nine appearances for coach Andrew Haygood. Struck out 36 in a team high 39.2 innings of work. Never gave up more than five hits in a single game this season. Also, hit .273 with eight RBIs and four doubles.
Reese DeHart, Loyd Star — Jr., P/INF
Solid in every phase of the game for an experienced group of Hornets. 2-2 record on the mound while posting a 2.28 ERA. Also picked up a save in 27.2 innings of work. A left-hander, he struck out 24. Batted .329 for coach Jared Britt. Drove in 16 runs and scored 22 runs. Also hit two doubles.
Corbin Falvey, Brookhaven High — Sr., INF
Worked to become a very reliable bat at the top of the Panther lineup as a leadoff batter. .371 average and scored a team high 33 runs for coach Matt White. Drove in eight runs and hit four RBIs. A .567 on base percentage, tops among the starters. Stole 13 bases and had a .859 fielding percentage as a middle infielder. Helped turn five double plays.
Dawson Flowers, Brookhaven Academy — Sr., P/INF
The captain of the MAIS AA state champion Cougars. A team best .402 at the plate with 26 RBIs for the MAIS AA state champs. Hit six doubles and one homerun. Scored 27 runs for coach Tyler Parvin. 6-2 at the plate in 14 appearances. Drew 11 starts and had a 1.34 ERA. Struck out a team high 71. Also, an All-Area selection in football and basketball. An MAIS AA All-State selection and Gulf Coast C.C. signee.
Austin Fugler, Enterprise — Jr., P/OF
A left hander with whip like delivery. 4-2 on the mound in 11 appearances with a 1.25 ERA. Struck out 81 in 33.2 innings of work. Struck out 19 in a win over Bogue Chitto and 14 in a playoff win over Richton. Hit .310 with 16 RBIs and 21 runs scored for coach Cass Brister. Hit four doubles and three triples. A MAC 2A All-State selection
Ethan Gladden, Bogue Chitto — Jr., P/INF
Solid number two starter for coach Gareth Sartin. 3-3 in nine appearances. Struck out 51 in 30 innings while posting a 4.20 ERA. Struck out a season high 13 in a win over Salem. Stole 16 bases and drove in 10 runs while batting .283 at the plate. Hit two doubles, two home runs, and scored 19 runs.
Travis Hall, West Lincoln — Jr., C
Gritty presence behind the plate. Led the Bears in nearly every hitting category with a .447 average and 22 RBIs. Scored seven runs and hit nine doubles and one triple. Posted a .680 slugging percentage and only struck out six times in 57 plate appearances. .973 fielding percentage defensively and only committed three errors. A MAC 2A All-State selection.
Rials Hester, Loyd Star — Sr., P/C
The jack-of-all trades for the region champion Hornets. Hit .267 and drove in 19 runs. Scored 20 runs while hitting four doubles and one home run. Caught, served as a DH, and pitched in relief. 1-1 record in eight appearances with one start and one no-hitter. 1.83 earned runs average while striking out 21 in 23 innings of work. Also, an All-Area pick as a football offensive lineman and Southwest Mississippi C.C. football signee.
Marquez Hudson, Lawrence County — Sr., INF/P
A one-man powerplant as a senior in Monticello. Team high .455 average at the plate. Scored a team high 18 runs and drove in a team high 22 runs as a senior for coach Andrew Haygood. Hit three doubles, one triple, and seven home runs. Posted a .927 slugging percentage and stole seven bases. Also, 1-1 in five pitching appearances. Struck out 20 in 16 innings of work. A Copiah-Lincoln C.C. signee.
Bryce Langley, Bogue Chitto — Sr. — P/INF
A leader on the mound and at the plate for coach Gareth Sartin and the Bobcats. 4-3 in nine pitching appearances. 5.65 ERA with 58 strikeouts in 34.2 innings. Struck out 12 in a region win over West Lincoln. .286 batting average with 13 RBIs and 16 runs scored. Hit a team high seven doubles.
Will McInnis — Sr. — P/INF
The tone setter for coach Set Lofton and the Cobras. Lights out on the mound as a left-hand pitcher. 7-1 record with a 1.67 ERA in 14 appearances. Struck out 57 in 58.2 innings of action. Batted for a .320 average at the plate. Hit seven doubles and drove in a team high 30 RBIs for a Wesson team that reached the third round of the MHSAA 3A playoffs.
Aarron Mooney, Wesson — Jr., P
One of the best game three starters in the area. 0.79 earned runs average in 11 appearances on the mound. 3-1 record with one save earned. Struck out 24 in 35.1 innings of action. .840 fielding percentage. Struck out eight in a series clinching win over Franklin County in the first round of the MHSAA 3A state playoffs.
Nick Ogden, Brookhaven Academy — Jr., C/P
A physical presence behind the plate or on the mound for the Cougars. Had the game winning RBI single in the deciding game of the MAIS AA championship series. Hit .306 with seven doubles and two home runs. Drove in 17 RBIs and scored 23 runs. Only pitched 10.2 innings in relief but struck out 17 in those outings. Appeared in seven games on the mound and drew one start. Finished 3-0 as a pitcher. An MAIS AA All-State selection.
Sevante Quinn, Brookhaven High — Sr., P/OF
A fierce competitor on the mound. 4-3 record in 10 appearances. 3.53 ERA in a team high 39.2 innings pitched. Struck out 44. Hit .275 at the plate 19 RBIs and 14 runs scored. Hit six doubles, two triples, and one home run. Also, a four-year starter for the Panther football team at quarterback and an All-Area selection the sport. A Copiah-Lincoln C.C. baseball signee.
Byrion Robinson, Brookhaven High — Jr., P/OF
A hard throwing southpaw. 3-2 with a 4.97 ERA in nine appearances. Tossed one shutout in 31 innings thrown. Struck out a team high 50 batters. Batted .254 with 19 runs scored and 13 runs driven in at the plate. Hit three doubles and two triples. Also a standout defensive back on the football field, he was an All-Area selection in that sport as well.
Dane Smith, Loyd Star — Sr., P/INF
A bulldog on the mound as a senior. 7-3 in 10 appearances with five complete games. Struck out 63 in 46 innings of work. .349 batting average with five doubles and one triple at the plate. Drove in 29 runs and scored 24 runs while also stealing 11 bases. An All-Area selection in football and basketball.
Lane Smith, Brookhaven High — Sr., INF
A powerful piece of the Panther lineup. Hit a team high .410 with 25 RBIs in 2019. Smacked six doubles, one triple, and one home run. A team high .590 slugging percentage. Stole eight bases and had a .921 fielding percentage defensively.
Logan Smith, Loyd Star — Sr., INF
Came up with some huge hits this season in the middle of the Hornet lineup. Had a .965 fielding percentage as a middle infielder. Batted .282 with 20 RBIs. Hit eight doubles and two homeruns for coach Jared Britt. Scored 23 runs and stole four bases for the region champs. Nicknamed “Poe.”
Brady Spring, Brookhaven Academy — Jr., INF/P
One of the hottest bats for the Cougars during their run to the MAIS AA state title. Second on the team with a .377 average. Hit a team high 11 doubles. Also, hit two home runs and drove in 19 RBIs while scoring 26 runs. Had an .876 fielding percentage playing third, short, and pitching. Tossed 11.1 innings from the mound. 2-0 record with 16 strikeouts in six pitching appearances. An MAIS AA All-State selection.
Caston Thompson, Brookhaven Academy — Fr.., P/INF
A southpaw that was one of the most valuable arms on the Cougar staff as a freshman. 1-1 record in five starts and 10 appearances. Struck out 36 in 30.2 innings of work. Solid defensively as a first baseman when not pitching. .287 average at the plate with 26 RBIs. Hit seven doubles, two home runs, and scored 17 runs.
Gatson Walker, Brookhaven High — Jr., C
One of the best defensive catchers in the area who improved his average at the plate as a junior. Hit. .288 with 22 RBIs, second most on the team. Hit three doubles and scored nine runs. Had a .993 fielding percentage defensively behind the dish, committing only one error.
Tanner Watts, Brookhaven Academy — Jr., P
A power arm that won his third straight championship as a junior after winning one with Loyd Star as a freshman and another with BA as a sophomore. Struck out 64 in 51.1 innings of work. 5-5 record in 11 starts and 13 appearances. Also, drove in 20 runs at the plate while hitting four doubles and one home run for coach Tyler Parvin. An MAIS AA All-State selection.
