The 2025 edition of Copiah-Lincoln Community College baseball finished the season with a strong accounting for itself, as the Wolves went 2-2 in the NJCAA Region 23 tournament pod at East Central Community College in Decatur.
The Wolves opened play on Monday with a 13-6 win over Jones College. They then played host East Central and lost 10-0 on Wednesday.
On Thursday, CLCC stayed alive with another win over Jones, this one an 8-5 victory that sent the Bobcats back to Ellisville.
Coach Adam Chamblee and his team then played a second game on Thursday, seeing their season come to an end with a 13-9 loss to an East Central team that was ranked no.7 in the latest NJCAA Division II baseball national poll.
Chamblee’s squad finishes 34-25 overall and as one of the final four teams playing in the postseason. East Central awaits the winner of the weather delayed pod being played at Pearl River Community College in Poplarville.
Brookhaven Academy grad Avery Griffin had a three-hit game in the 8-5 win over Jones for CLCC. Griffin hit a double and drove in one run. Leadoff batter Reise Thomas (Florence High) had a four RBI game for the Wolves, which included a home run. Brady White (Ethel High) doubled, and Tucker Jones (Northwest Rankin) tripled for the Wolves in the win.
The winning pitcher was freshman Jennings Kimbrell (Madison-St. Joe), who gave up just one run in seven innings of work on the mound for Co-Lin in the win over a Jones team that was ranked No. 8 in the last national poll.
ECCC went up 4-0 after the bottom of the first inning in the nightcap, but CLCC battled back to grab a brief 6-4 lead and the boys from Wesson continued to chip away at the Warrior’s advantage after East Central surged back ahead 10-6 through four innings.
Sophomores who will be lost to graduation for CLCC include Judson Griffin (Brookhaven Academy), Dylan Wesson (East Rankin Academy), Gavin Bledsoe (Pisgah), Sam Cook (Wayne Academy), Dee Morgan (Tallulah, La.), Lucas Harrington (Youngsville, La.), Darrin Robbins (Sumrall), Thomas and Jones.
