The Brookhaven Academy roster received a boost when junior Kyndra Quinn transferred in from Bogue Chitto ahead of the 2024-2025 season. Quinn didn’t take long to acclimate, as she scored goals in bunches for a Cougar team that finished 17-5-2 overall.

For her excellent play in putting the ball into the net, Quinn has been named the 2025 Daily Leader All-Area Girls’ Soccer Most Valuable Player.

Quinn averaged two goals a game, as she finished the season with 45 goals and 11 assists as Brookhaven Academy reached the final four of MAIS Division II soccer.

A reminder that MAIS schools like BA play their girls’ soccer season beginning in July and ending in October, as opposed to the MHSAA schedule that runs through the winter.

“Kyndra has such a good nose for the goal and just loads of pace,” said BA soccer coach Alex Brown when asked about what makes Quinn special. “She has the best goal scoring ability of any high school girl I’ve ever coached. There was a stretch this season where Kyndra had six consecutive hat tricks (a game where she scored at least three goals) in district play. She’s a proper striker and a proper goal scorer.”

Brown and his squad are losing some important seniors on the defensive side of things including goalkeeper Ainsley Orr and defenders Chloe Nelson, Mattie Claire Smith, and Ava Calcote.

What will give the Cougars confidence when their season starts back up in a little over three months is knowing that Quinn and her nose for the goal are back for one more season wearing Cougar blue.
