Copiah-Lincoln Community College sophomore guard Angel “Cookie” Wilkinson was a force on the court for the Wolves during the 2024-2025 women’s basketball season.

On Tuesday, Wilkinson received the highest honor given by the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference, as the Brookhaven High alum was named the MACCC Player of the Year.

“Cookie is a special player and one who is extremely deserving of Player of the Year in the MACCC,” said CLCC head coach Dr. Britta Stephens in a release by the school. “For the past two seasons, it has been my privilege to coach her and watch her grow as a player. Her success is not by accident.”

Wilkinson finished the season by averaging 22.6 points per game for a Co-Lin team that finished 15-14 in Stephen’s second year as head coach.

That was good enough to lead the MACCC in scoring and put Wilkinson as the second highest scorer per game in all of NJCAA Division I women’s basketball.

The cat-quick Wilkinson stuffed her stat line with 6.2 rebounds, 3.4 steals, and 2.8 assists per game.

Wilkinson sat out the first semester of her freshman year after initially signing with Tallahassee Community College (Fla.) following her decorated career playing at Brookhaven High.

In what basically amounts to a season and half, she scored 862 career points for Co-Lin.

Wilkinson forever wrote her name on the hallowed history books of women’s basketball in Wesson when she scored a program record 44 points in a Dec. 7 win over Southern-Shreveport.

The 5-foot-7 Wilkinson has pledged to play next at Jackson State University.

“What Cookie has done in only one and a half seasons at Co-Lin is nothing short of extraordinary,” said Stephens in the release. “Our program is fortunate to have had her to continue to build the legacy of Lady Wolf Basketball, and we have big shoes to fill without her next season.”
