The Copiah-Lincoln Community College softball team moved to 11-3 and pushed its winning streak to nine games with a sweep of Lansing (Mich.) Community College on Monday in Wesson.

The Wolves won the opener 7-3 and then took the doubleheader with a 10-1 win in five innings over the visiting Lansing Stars.

CLCC beat Lansing twice last season and they also defeated the Stars 8-0 two years ago at the 2023 NJCAA National Tournament, an event won by Co-Lin in memorable fashion.

The three losses this season for Co-Lin to Enterprise State (5-4), Southern Union State (3-2), and Northwest Florida State (4-3) were all one-run defeats.

The opener on Monday was tied at 3-3 through three complete innings before Co-Lin broke things open with a four-run fifth inning.

Loyd Star product, sophomore outfielder Carson Hughey, had a double at the plate and drove in one run for Co-Lin. Taylor Efferson (Holden, La.) also slugged a double and drove in a run for CLCC in the opener.

Sophomore Emily Richarde (Lakeland, Tenn.) picked up the pitching win by allowing two hits and striking out three batters.

CLCC poured it on in game two, scoring 10 runs on 10 hits.

Freshman infielder Abby Burnette, also a Loyd Star alum, had a big day at the plate in game two. Burnette had three hits and drove in three runs.

Efferson hit another home run while freshman Stella Roberts (Copiah Academy) also put one out of the yard for Co-Lin head coach Meleah Howard.

Freshman Brelie Philips (Newton County) doubled as well for the Wolves in game two. Efferson ended with three RBIs and sophomore Olivia Banes (Simpson Academy) had a two RBI game as well.

Efferson pitched the win by striking out three and giving up one unearned run on two hits.
