Offensive Player of the Week
Jordyn Kees, Loyd Star
Sophomore, Running Back
There is no document that one can search to find out who’s rushed for the most yards in the all-time Possum Bowl matchups between Lincoln County rivals Loyd Star and Bogue Chitto. It’s likely that not many in the history of the series have had a better night running the ball than Loyd Star sophomore Jordyn Kees did on Friday.
Kees carried the ball 28 times for 278 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 9.9 yards per carry in a 38-14 win for the Hornets that delivered a second straight Region 7-2A championship. For his Possum Bowl heroics, Kees has been named The Daily Leader Offensive Player of the Week.
The night put Kees over the 1,000-yard mark on the season as he has now carried 130 times for 1,270 yards and 12 touchdowns. Running a single wing offense, Loyd Star will go inside run, inside run, inside run, and lull the defense to sleep. And then boom, there goes Kees around the end, as he did on a 70-yard jaunt in the second half that put the game out of reach. LS is back at home on Friday, hosting West Lincoln in a Region 7-2A game.
