Offensive Player of the Week
Jayden Poole, Bogue Chitto
Sophomore, Running Back
Making sure Jayden Poole gets the ball in his hands was one of the focuses coming into the season for first year Bogue Chitto head coach BJ Smithhart. The fastest player on the team who got plenty of varsity experience last season as a freshman, it was clear before the season ever started that Poole would be a guy counted on in 2024.
Friday in a 35-20 win at Amite County, Poole was a difference maker for the Bobcat offense. The sophomore running back rushed 21 times for 148 yards and three touchdowns. For his outstanding performance in helping BC start region play 1-0, Poole has been named The Daily Leader Offensive Player of the Week.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Poole makes defenders miss with his ability to cut back on a dime. His three touchdown runs came from 19, 26, and 49 yards. He also caught three passes for 24 yards and made 10 tackles on defense from the secondary. Poole is averaging over 8.0 yards per carry this season. Bogue Chitto will invade West Lincoln on Friday night for another Region 7-2A game.
