Montgomery takes top spot at Cathedral Twilight XC meet

PHOTO SUBMITTED Loyd Star senior Gauge Montgomery captured first place on Saturday at the annual Twilight Cross-Country Meet hosted by Cathedral School in Natchez.

Loyd Star senior and defending MHSAA 2A state champion Gauge Montgomery finished first overall Saturday in the annual Twilight Cross-Country Meet hosted in Natchez by Cathedral School. Montgomery finished the two-mile course in 11 minutes and 17 seconds, edging out Thomas McKnight of Cathedral by three seconds.

The Loyd Star cross-country teams are led by coach Rusty Newman. Runners from The Reading Nook also competed in the event.
