BHS, EAC combine for 37 runs in Ole Brook victory

The scoreboard at Lady Panther Park was ringing like a slot machine Thursday as Brookhaven High met Enterprise in the regular season finale for both teams.
Brookhaven (8-13) finished as the No. 3 seed from Region 5-5A and will face Wayne County this weekend in the opening round of the MHSAA playoffs.
Enterprise (7-12) has concluded their season after finishing as the fifth-place team in Region 7-2A.
The teams combined for 22 hits in the game and 16 errors.
EAC led 3-0 after the top of the first, 10-4 after the top of the third and 18-13 heading into the final BHS at-bat of the game.
Madison Benson had a double for BHS while Lauren Coghlan added a triple. As a team Ole Brook drew 13 walks.
Benson had a game-high six RBIs while Coghlan, the lone senior on the team, drove in four runs for BHS coach Mandy Vinson.
Maggie Reynaud and Journi Hunt had two RBIs each for BHS while Emma Campbell and Maryanna Boyte had one RBI apiece.
Morgan Chemin hit a double and a triple for Enterprise coach Trace Abdul-Hadi. Katelynn Malone added a home run and a triple of her own.
Chemin drove in a team-high three runs while Malone, Hannah Jergins, Ruby Oberscchmidt and Bailey Parks each had two RBIS apiece for Enterprise. Kailee Nuckles also had one run drive in for the Lady Jackets.
Enterprise used three pitchers in the loss, while Reynaud went the distance for BHS. She gave up eight earned runs on 12 hits while striking out one and walking two on 150 pitches.
