Bogue Chitto prevails over Salem

TYLERTOWN – The Bogue Chitto Bobcats captured a 14-5 division win over the Salem Wildcats Tuesday night in Region 7-1A baseball action.
“This was a good division win for my guys,” said BC coach Tony Davis. “Everybody played hard and made the plays that we needed to earn the victory. Overall, I was very pleased with our effort.”
The Bobcats will continue division action today when they host Salem for the second game of the best-of-three series. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 7 p.m.
Bogue Chitto 14, Salem 5
Bogue Chitto set the tone of the contest early, plating three runs in the first two innings to claim a 3-0 lead.
Salem would answer, scoring one each in the first, second and third innings to tie the contest.
With the score tied at 5-5 heading in final two innings, BC outscored Salem 9-0 to collect the win.
Trey Nettles was the winning pitcher for the Bobcats with three strikeouts and four walks.
Ty Pezat took the loss for the Wildcats with one strikeout and five walks.
Grant Leake was the leader at the plate for BC with two doubles and two singles. Tucker Lambert provided two singles and a double. Rudy Brumfield had two doubles. Trey Nettles ripped two singles. Tanner Gunther hit a double. Kobe Roberts and Brandon McKenzie finished with a single each.
Dylan Rushing recorded the only hit on offense for Salem with a single.

Shaw King pitched the win for the Bobcats.
