Richton Lady Rebels knock off Lady Bears
RICHTON – The West Lincoln Lady Bears visited Richton to battle the Lady Rebels Monday night in the opening round of the South State tournament and lost 49-40 to conclude their season.
The Lady Bears, coached by Lane Young, finished the season with a 13-11 record.
Lady Rebels 49, Lady Bears 40
The Lady Bears and Lady Rebels fought to a 9-9 tie in the first, but Richton put together a 14-8 run to secure a 23-17 lead over West Lincoln at halftime.
The Lady Bears outscored the Lady Rebels 13-10 in the third to cut into Richton’s lead at 33-30.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Rebels held on to the lead with a 16-10 run to close out the game and collect the win 49-40.
Jana Case powered the Lady Bears with 12 points followed by Layton Sills’ 11 points. Hanna Moak added eight points and Carly Holden finished with five points. Skylar Hall and Megan Gerald scored two points apiece. Moak was the leader on the boards as she pulled down 10 rebounds. Demesha Deer grabbed 8 rebounds.
Alyne Scott directed the Lady Rebels with game-high 26 points.
