Delta Kappa Gamma presents Red Rose Award to Sullivan

Karen Sullivan, Brookhaven alderman at large, has been selected as the recipient of the Red Rose Award presented by Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. Theta Chapter is made up of key women educators in Copiah and Lincoln County.

The recipient of the award is a woman leader whose accomplishments have benefited education and the status of women in educational leadership roles. Sullivan was presented a red rose pin, symbolic of this prestigious award, at a recent Theta Chapter meeting.

Sullivan has served as alderman at large since 2009. She previously served as a teacher in Brookhaven City Schools for more 20 years. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Mississippi State University and her master’s degree from Mississippi College.

Sullivan has served as chair of the Education Committee of the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, and she is currently serving as member of the Education, Beautification and Creative Economy Committees of the Chamber.

She also serves as a member of the Brookhaven School District Dropout Prevention Committee.
