The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars devoured the Prentiss Christian Lady Saints to claim a huge 19-5 district victory Tuesday night in MAIS softball action.

“The girls played really hard and did a good job putting the ball into play,” said BA coach Kaylin Lofton. “It feels great to win our first district game.”

The Lady Cougars (3-9, 1-0) resume action Saturday. They will be participating in Parklane’s softball tournament.

The Lady Cougars provided a hitting clinic as they out hit the Lady Saints 10-3.

Alex Rai Smith was the winning hurdler for BA with four strikeouts, two walks and one hit batter.

Alli Livingston directed BA’s offensive charge with a pair of doubles. Anna Grace Covington and Maura Dunaway contributed a double and a single each. Hitting safely were Jessica Wallace and K.K. Jordan.
