Lady Hornets win two in Ole Brook

The Loyd Star Lady Hornets captured two victories Saturday in Ole Brook’s softball Tournament at Hansel King Complex.

Loyd Star defeated the Wesson Lady Cobras 6-0 in the first game and knocked off the St. Aloysius Lady Flashes 11-6 in the second game.

Mackenzie Smith was the winning pitcher in the first game for the Lady Hornets with two strikeouts and two walks.

Amber Benson absorbed the setback for the Lady Cobras with one strikeout and two walks.

Ali Gartman and Madison Jones powered the Loyd Star’s offense attack with a home run and a single each. Mackenzie Smith contributed two doubles. Abagail Thornton and Julie Smith provided a double and a single apiece. Brooks Rushing had a double, and Raigan Smith hit a single.

Kelsie McCullough pitched the win for the Loyd Star in the second game with two strikeouts and no walk. Gartman (1K, 1BB) also saw some action in relief.

Avery Parman (1K, 1BB) absorbed the loss on the mound for the Lady Flashes.

Gartman was the top hitter for the Lady Hornets in game two with a home run and a single. Raigan Smith added fuel to the fire with a home run. Julie Smith ripped a triple and two singles. Megan Norton provided a double and a single. Thornton and Rushing hit two singles apiece. Johnna Norman and Jones hit safely.

Grace Upshaw paced the St. Al’s offense with a double. Hitting safely were Jordan McDonald, Michelle Howington, Brooklyn Richards and Stephanie Schoonover.
