Madison Central prevails over North Pike

MADISON – The North Pike Lady Jaguars suffered a tough 6-5 loss to the Madison Central Lady Jaguars in a non divisional softball contest Thursday night.

North Pike (13-9), coached by Sonya Wallace, will resume action Monday as they take on the the winner of the Northeast Lauderdale and Vancleave series. The Summit-based Lady Jaguars will have to travel Monday for one game and then return home to host game two and game three, if necessary, on Tuesday.

NE Lauderdale beat Vancleave 11-5 in game one Thursday night. The series continues today at NE Lauderdale today. We will travel to the winner on Monday

Madison Central 6, North Pike 5 >

The Summit-based Lady Jaguars came out and quickly overpowered Madison Central in the first two innings of action as they commanded a 5-0 lead.

Madison Central battled in the bottom of the fourth inning as they push in one run to cut into North Pike’s lead at 4-1.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Madison Central exploded with a five surge to take the lead away from North Pike and held on for the win.

Madison Bigner suffered the setback on the rubber for North Pike with one strikeout and six walks.

Haylee Morse was the winning pitcher for Madison Central with nine strikeouts and two walks. Alexia Harmon (0K, 4BB) also pitched one inning in relief.

Jenna Brock and Rickera Martin was the top hitters for North Pike’s offense with a single each.

Emily Turner led the Lady Jags of Madison Central with a triple. Alexia Harmon Mya Hopson and Kristen Qualls hit safely.
