Centreville Academy captured two varsity wins Friday night over Brookhaven Academy in MAIS basketball action at John R. Gray Gymnasium.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Tigers overpowered the Lady Cougars to claim a 44-20 victory.

In boys’ action, Centreville knocked off BA 61-48.

Brookhaven Academy will resume action Tuesday as the Cougars and Lady Cougars travel to Natchez to battle the Natchez Cathedral Green Wave. The varsity girls will tip off at 6, followed by the varsity boys at 7:30 p.m.

Lady Tigers 44, Lady Cougars 20 

Centreville Academy carried a 18-8 lead into halftime and outscored the Lady Cougars 26-12 in the final two quarters to secure the win.

Anna-Michael Smith directed the Lady Cougars with seven points and four rebounds. Shelby Flumm, Edie Riley and Leah Case contributed three points each. Sophie Wilson and Bailey Stewart had two points each.

Marti Anna Longmire and Sydnie Lyons powered the Lady Tigers with 14 points apiece. Katelyn Chandlet scored nine points.

Centreville Acad. 61, Brookhaven Acad. 48

The Tigers dominated the Cougars in the firs half to claim a 29-17 lead.

In the second half, Centreville managed to withstand BA’s rally with a 32-31 push in the final two periods to escape with the victory.

Luke Jackson was the top scorer for BA with 13 points. Dylan Winborne and Tanner Thurman netted 10 points each. Ethan Nation contributed nine points and was the leader on the boards with seven rebounds. Austin Smith, Ross Felder and Colton Watson finished with two points each.

Austin Addington and Matthew Pamell directed the Tigers’ scoring with 12 points each. Tyler Caston, Brant Garrett and B.J. Parent had eight points apiece.

In junior high action,  Brookhaven Academy swept Centreville Academy.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Cougars edged the Lady Tigers 27-26. Ainsley Allen pumped in 13 points and Julie Anna Bartram scored six points.

In boys’ action, BA thumped Centreville 67-34. Dawson Flowers powered the Cougars with 29 points. Cade Brown contributed 22 points and Tanner Thurman had 16 points.
