Wesson man killed in Monday accident

John D. Tarver of Wesson was killed Monday in an accident in Brookhaven when a fire extinguisher burst.

According to Brookhaven Police Chief Bobby Bell, Tarver was working on an air-conditioning unit at 200 Ave. A, when he found an antique fire extinguisher in a dumpster.

When he lifted the canister, the pressure discharged the rusty bottom, which hit Tarver in the face, killing him on impact.

The accident occurred at 10:40 a.m. Monday.
