Lady Cats capture two shut out wins

The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats climbed back into the win Saturday with two shut out victories over the Vicksburg Lady Gators and the Enterprise Lady Jackets in Franklin County’s softball tournament.

The Lady Cats hammered the Lady Gators 11-0 in the first game and squeezed out a 2-0 win over Enterprise in their second game.

“We had a good day,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “Both of my pitchers did a great job pitching a no hitter in both games. Overall, the girls played really well offensively and defensively.”

BC (8-3) returns to action Tuesday as they invade Monticello to battle the Lawrence County Lady Cougars. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6 p.m.

BC 11, Vicksburg 0 

Alan Nettles was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cats with six strikeouts and one walk in a five inning no hit contest.

Chandler Ellis took the loss for the Lady Gators with three strikeouts and one walk.

Christian Black led BC’s offense at the plate with a double and a single. Daley Roberts provided two singles. Alexis Givens ripped a double. Hitting safely were Terrah Nelson and Zariah Matthews.

BC 2, Enterprise 0 

Black tossed the victory for Bogue Chitto with five strikeouts and five walks in a four inning no hit contest.

Haley Nations suffered the setback for the Lady Jackets with four strikeouts and no walks.

Mattie Avants, Black, Nettles and Roberts powered the Lady Cats’ offense with a single apiece.
