Lady Jags knock off Lawrence Co.

MONTICELLO – The North Pike Lady Jaguars knocked off the Lawrence County Lady Cougars to gain a 11-4 win in Region 7-4A softball action Tuesday night.

The Lady Cougars (10-5, 2-3) visit Brookhaven today as they take on the Brookhaven Lady Panthers at the Ole Brook softball complex. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.

 North Pike 11, Lawrence Co. 4 

The Lady Cougars and the Lady Jaguars kicked off the first inning of action with a bang as North Pike quickly set the tone of the contest securing a 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the first inning, the Lady Cougars battled back and outscored the Lady Jags 4-3 to claim the lead.

After two scoreless innings, the Lady Jaguars managed to reclaim the lead with a four-run surge to take a 7-4 lead in the top of the fourth inning and added to their lead in the top of the sixth inning with four more runs to collect the win.

Madison Bigner tossed the victory for the Lady Jaguars with seven strikeouts and no walks.

Elizabeth Smith suffered the setback in the pitcher circle for Lawrence County with no strikeouts and five walks. Jordan Harp (1K, 0BB) also pitched in relief.

Madison Bigner powered the Lady Jags’ offense with a home run. Sarah Brock, Madison Bates and Rickera Martin ripped a pair of singles apiece. Jordan Fitzgerald hit a double. Hitting safely were Linley Smith and Baylee Bryant.

Tiera Collins was the top hitter at the plate for the Lady Cougars with a home run. Jamie Martin contributed a triple. Lexie Johnson provided a double. Maddux Kirkland hit a pair of singles. Sydney Pevey and Madison Hyde had a single each.
