Lady Cats sweep Nanih Waiya
BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats advanced to the Class 1A South State Championship after beating the Nanih Waiya Lady Warriors 9-1 Wednesday night in a playoff series.
“This was a big series win for us,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “Nanih Waiya has a good team and they always play us tough. Offensively, we managed to pull away in the fifth inning to secure the win. Christian Black did a good job in the circle for us and our defense played great behind her.”
The Lady Cats (23-6) will travel to Ethel Friday night to take on the Lady Tigers in the first game, starting at 6:30 p.m. The second game and third game, if needed, will return to Bogue Chitto Monday for a 4 p.m. start.

The Lady Warriors scored their only run of the contest in the first, before the Lady Cats took over and dominated the rest of the game.
In the bottom of the first, BC scored two runs to take a 2-1 lead.
The Lady Cats increased their lead by plating one run in the third, four runs in the fifth and two more runs in the sixth to secure a 9-1 win.
Christian Black dominated in the pitching circle, for the second straight day, with 11 strikeouts and two walks.
Daylyn Nance suffered the loss for the Lady Warriors with four strikeouts and seven walks.
Zariah Matthew powered the Lady Cats with a double and a single. Reagan Kirkland contributed two singles. Hitting safely were Cherie Savoie, Terrah Nelson, Codi Leggett, Christian Black and Baileigh Jackson.
Hope Thames and Mackenzie Johnson were the leaders at the plate for the Lady Warriors with two singles each. Marler Parks and Katylyn Burrage finished with a single apiece.
