Lady Trojans defeat Lady Jackets

LIBERTY – The Enterprise Jackets captured their first district win Friday night, beating the Amite County Trojans 71-58 in Region 7-2A action.

In girls’ action, the Amite County Lady Trojans knocked off the Enterprise Lady Jackets 46-36.

Enterprise will be on the road Tuesday as the Jackets and Lady Jackets travel to Loyd Star for four games. Junior varsity action will start at 4 p.m. Varsity action will begin with the girls’ game at 6, followed by the boys’ game at 7:30 p.m.

Enterprise 71, Amite County 58

Leading 35-30 after halftime, the Jackets would continue their momentum in the third quarter with a 29-9 run to secure a 54-39 lead.

In the final period, Enterprise showed no signs of slowing down as they outscored Amite County to clinch its first district win of the season.

“Proud of the boys. They played hard throughout the whole game,” said Enterprise coach John Knight. “Glad to get the win.”

Enterprise had three players to score in double figures as Dwayne Pendleton powered the Jackets with 34 points. Jontavious Smith netted 13 points. Zach Hodges chipped in 10 points. Austin Carter scored eight points. Darren Richardson had five points. Cade Feltus finished with one point.

Darrion Robinson paced the Trojans with 19 points. Deltemetrius Patterson chipped in 17 points. Braxton Smart netted seven points. Tyrese Hackett scored six points. Lantravious Franklin had five points. Edric Williams and Brandon Pipes finished the night with two points each.

Lady Trojans 46, Lady Jackets 36

The Lady Jackets came out strong in the first to take a commanding 29-13 lead into halftime. But it wasn’t enough as Amite County rallied back with a 33-7 run in the final two quarters to steal away the win.

Courtney Greer directed the Lady Jackets with 13 points. Carlee Nations netted nine points. Allisa Barlow scored six points and had five rebounds. Michelle Herrington had four points and five rebounds. Karlee Burges and Haley Nations finished the night with two points each. Monisha Pendleton was the leader on the boards for the Lady Jackets with six rebounds

Deboney Wilson paced Lady Trojans with 21 points. Ambria Handy netted nine points. Ronika Pool chipped in eight points. Destiny Williams had four points. Brandi Thompson and Danyelle Walker finished with two points each.
