Lady Cats thump West Marion; boys fall

FOXWORTH – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats used their high-powered offense to overwhelm the West Marion Lady Trojans in a 77-27 win Tuesday. In the boys’ contest, the Trojans overpowered the Bobcats to claim a 96-42 victory.

Bogue Chitto will resume action Friday when it travels to Meadville to take on the Franklin County Bulldogs in three games. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity games at 6 and 7:30 p.m.

Lady Cats 77, Lady Trojans 27 

The Lady Cats, led by Shay Jefferson, blew passed the Lady Trojans with a 22-9 run in the first quarter. In the second the Lady Cats would add a 28-point explosion to extend their lead 50-15 at the half.

In the second half, the Lady Cats would continue to dominate as they outscored the Lady Trojans 27-12 to secure the win.

Jefferson powered the Lady Cats with game-high 20 points, one assist and three steals. Zariah Matthews chipped in 14 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals. Christian Black netted 10 points and had four rebounds. Karlie Williams contributed nine points and had five rebounds. Terrah Nelson provided seven points and four rebounds. Perstashia Henderson had five points. Taneshia May scored four points and six rebounds. Lineka Nesson had three points. Baleigh Jackson and Kylie Hux both had two points each. Karly Leake finished with one point and two assists.

Janlee Brady was the top scorer for the Lady Trojans with 11 points. Anel Conerly provided six points. Krystal Harvey had five points. Hannak Gomez, Abby Thornhill, and Mia Beasley all had two points each. Shania Jefferson added one point.

West Marion 96, Bogue Chitto 42 

“Our boys played hard tonight and I was able to see some improvement in some of my guys. We have brighter days to come,” said BC coach Mark Pitts.

Malik Richardson directed the Bobcats’ offense with a team-high 25 points. D.J. Nunnery contributed 10 points. LaFredrick Dillon scored seven points.

Adrian Miller was the leader for the Trojans with 28 points. Anthonee Mark chipped in 25 points. Josh Miller had 14 points.

In JV girls’ action, the Lady Cats won 32-9 over the Lady Trojans.

Bailegh Jackson led the Lady Cats with nine points. Tukiyah Godbolt scored eight points. Karly Leake had six points. Cheyenne Hall netted three points. Kylie Hux finished with four points.
