Columbia edges BA Cougars

COLUMBIA – A two out double in the bottom of the sixth plated two runs for the Columbia Academy Cougars giving them the lead and eventual 7 – 6 victory over Brookhaven Academy Friday night in Columbia.

BA scattered 11 hits on the evening led by Zach Dickerson’s 3 for 4 performance. Landon Nettles, Jacob Boyd and Alex Smith each had 2 hits apiece for the Cougars and J.P. Jackson and Heath Hickman added support hitting safely once each.

Heath Hickman was charged with the loss in short relief of Newt Riley who went 4 innings and recorded six strikeouts for BA.

In junior varsity action, the BA Cougar JV squad (2 – 0) defeated Columbia Academy 4 – 2 behind a nine strikeout performance by sophomore left-hander William King.

Madison Smith led the Cougars at the plate with a two hit, two RBI outing. King, Lamar Lang and John Coleman also hit safely for the JV Cougars.
