Warren Central slips by BA
RIDGELAND — The Brookhaven Academy Cougars traveled north on I-55 to participate in the Ridgeland High School Spring Break Titan Classic on Monday and took on the Warren Central Vikings in afternoon baseball action.
In a pitcher’s battle, the Vikings took the lead on a 2-run homerun by Cameron Upton in the bottom of the fourth inning and added security run in the sixth to capture a 3 – 1 victory over the Cougars.
“We got a solid four-hit pitching performance from Bailey (Warren) and that should be good enough to win. Commented BA head coach Casey Edwards after the game.
“Offensively we just didn’t get the hits in critical situations when we had the chance to make something happen.” Edwards concluded, “We’ve got to take advantage of those opportunities.”
Senior Landon Nettles continues to swing a hot bat and led BA with a double and a single. Jacob Boyd and Zach Dickerson had the only other hits for the Cougars. Bailey Warren went the distance for BA striking out six and issuing one base on balls in his afternoon of work while absorbing the loss.
Layne Tedder picked up the win for the Vikings.
BA will be back in action at the Titan Classic on Wednesday with double header baseball scheduled versus Starkville Academy at 11 am and Jackson Prep at 3 p.m.
