Local man charged in Sunday night shooting death
A Brookhaven man was shot and killed Sunday night in the Hayes Trailer Park lot at 401 Industrial Park Road.
Don Bolds, 33, of 817 Saints Trail, has been charged with the murder of Trevor Williams, 18, of 2746 Bluebird Lane, and is being held in the Lincoln County jail without bail.
Williams was shot once in the upper chest, according to Brookhaven Chief of Police Bobby Bell. Williams was lying outside in the trailer park when officers with the BPD arrived on scene.
After being transported to King’s Daughters Medical Center, Williams later was pronounced dead at 9:19 p.m. by Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris.
Deputy Coroner Ricky Alford, who examined the body, said it was then transported to the Mississippi crime lab for an autopsy.
An altercation between the two men that began earlier in the day, and extended into the evening was what led Bolds to shoot and kill Williams, said Bell.
While Bolds did not confess to the murder, the BPD charged him with Williams’ death Monday morning.
“We had sufficient enough evidence to charge Mr. Bolds with the crime,” said Bell, adding that there were witnesses to the murder.
Brookhaven police received the call at 8:07 p.m., and the first unit arrived at 8:08.
