Lady Panthers crush McComb
MCCOMB – The Brookhaven Lady Panthers were victorious Friday night as they crushed the McComb Lady Tigers 18-4 in softball action.

The Lady Panthers (4-3) return to action Tuesday as they prepare to host the Loyd Star Lady Hornets at Ole Brook’s Lady Panthers softball complex. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.
Brookhaven 18, McComb 4
The Brookhaven Lady Panthers managed to overcome a sluggish start to overpower the Lady Tigers in the third inning to take a commanding 8-2 lead.
Brookhaven continued their aggressive hitting streak in the fifth and sixth innings to extend their lead by adding three runs in the fifth and six more runs in the top of the sixth for a whopping 18-4 advantage.
Sophomore Katherine Shell dominated the pitching circle for the Lady Panthers collecting six strikeouts and allowed no walks.
Paige Brock suffered the loss for the Lady Tigers with four strikeouts and seven walks.
Katie Grace Culpepper powered Brookhaven’s offense with four singles. Shell had a productive night at the plate with a double and a single. Jada Henderson, Danielle Batteast and Destiny Trevillion hit safely.
Leyton Terrell was the top hitter for the Lady Tigers at the plate with a double and a single. Ashley Bond had a single.
In junior varsity action, Brookhaven edge McComb 5-4.
Madison Thompson pitched the win for the Lady Panthers with four strikeouts and two walks.
Trevillion was the leader at the plate for Brookhaven.
Freneshia Harris paced the Lady Tigers’ offense with a home run. Reneshia McCray and Shatonia Coney hit safely.
