BA Lady Cougars snap five-game skid

FRANKLINTON, La. – The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars snapped a five-game losing streak Tuesday night with a 7-1 win over the Bowling Green Lady Buccaneers in MAIS fastpitch softball action.

The Lady Cougars (5-7, 0-3) will return to action Saturday as they prepare to travel to McComb to participate in Parklane Academy’s softball tournament. Tournament schedule and game times have not been released.

BA 7, Bowling Green 1 

The Lady Cougars and the Lady Bucs battled in a 1-1 contest for six innings until the seventh inning when BA erupted with a six-run jolt to prevail 7-1 over Bowling Green and end their five-game drought.

Allie Summers was the winning pitcher for BA with eight strikeouts and four walks.

Allison Livingston powered the Lady Cougars at the plate with a triple and two singles. Kailyn Jordan and Anna Grace Covington contributed a pair of singles each. Hitting safely were Alex Rae Smith, Madi Smith and Cameron Watson.

In junior varsity action,  BA defeated Bowling Green 1-0.

Madi Smith pitched the win for the Lady Cougars with five strikeouts and no walks.

Madison Moak and Cameron Watson were the top hitters for BA with a single each.
